Note regarding lab members’ clinical training placements
Although I generally stay out of the “clinical” side of things, most clinical lab members are generally interested in becoming neuropsychologists. Clinical students generally go through multiple stages of training during their time in the program. During the “internal practicum” year, lab members have trained at several sites, including the Behavioral Medicine Center, Behavioral Health Institute, Indian Health, Memory Training Program, and Sierra High School. During “external practicum” and “pre-internship” training, lab members have also trained at several sites, including LLU’s East Campus (with either Drs. Fogel or Salvador / Barrera), UCLA’s Longevity Center (with Dr. Karen Miller), Casa Colina, Hoag Hospital, the Brain Wellness Institute, Loma Linda VA, and Patton State Hospital.
Note that your research productivity will decrease significantly once external training starts, so you are encouraged to get as much reading, data collection, statistical analyses, and writing done as possible during your first 2 years.
